Full-Face Fine Lines

Fine, surface lines across the face — softened by improving skin quality.

Fine lines are the shallow, surface lines that appear across the face as the skin becomes drier, thinner and less elastic — on the cheeks, around the mouth and eyes, and across the forehead. Unlike deeper expression lines, they are mainly a skin-quality concern. At Feonix Aesthetics in Coventry, we assess what is driving your fine lines and use treatments that improve hydration, collagen and the skin surface.

What it is

Fine lines are shallow creases in the surface of the skin. They often show first as a crepey or slightly crinkled look in certain lights, and can appear across large areas of the face rather than in one spot. They are different from the deeper lines caused by repeated muscle movement, such as frown lines between the brows, which have their own pages.

Because fine lines are mostly about the quality of the skin itself — its hydration, thickness and collagen — they tend to respond to treatments that improve the skin rather than to treatments that change muscle movement.

More about Full-Face Fine Lines

Why it happens

With age, the skin produces less collagen, elastin and natural moisturising factors, so it becomes thinner and less able to hold water. Sun exposure speeds up the breakdown of collagen, and smoking, dehydration, poor sleep and harsh skincare can all make fine lines more visible. Some people notice them earlier because of genetics or skin type.

How we assess it at Feonix

At your consultation we look at where your lines are, whether they are visible at rest, and how your skin quality, hydration and sun damage contribute. Lines that are mainly caused by muscle movement are a different concern, and we will explain the difference. The right approach is agreed with you after that assessment.

What treatment can and cannot do

LaseMD Ultra is a gentle, non-ablative laser that improves early, fine surface lines as part of an overall improvement in skin quality. Profhilo is an injectable that hydrates the skin and smooths fine lines caused by dehydration, without adding volume. Fotona Skin Resurfacing renews the outer layers of the skin and stimulates collagen, with a short period of redness and flaking afterwards.

These treatments soften fine lines gradually by improving the skin; they do not erase lines or stop the skin from ageing, and results vary from person to person. Daily SPF and good skincare help maintain the improvement. We explain the likely course, downtime and realistic outcome at your consultation.

Common questions about full-face fine lines

What is the difference between fine lines and wrinkles?

Fine lines are shallow surface lines, usually linked to dehydration and skin quality. Deeper wrinkles and expression lines are often caused by repeated muscle movement and collagen loss. They respond to different approaches, which is why we assess your lines before recommending anything.

Can skincare help fine lines?

Yes — daily SPF, a good moisturiser and, where suitable, a retinoid can improve fine lines over time. Skincare works on the surface, so if you want a more noticeable change in skin quality, clinical treatment is usually needed alongside it.

Which treatment is right for me?

It depends on your skin, the cause of your lines and how much downtime suits you. LaseMD Ultra is gentle with little downtime, Profhilo focuses on hydration, and Fotona Skin Resurfacing renews the surface more intensively. Your clinician recommends an option after assessment.

Do I need a prescription-only treatment for fine lines?

Not usually. Fine lines are mainly a skin-quality concern. If your lines are driven by muscle movement, that is a different concern; if a prescription-only treatment may be appropriate, this will be discussed and assessed by an appropriately qualified prescriber before anything is prescribed.

How we decide what’s right

Every plan starts with a consultation. We assess your suitability, discuss your goals and review your medical history before recommending anything — and we will tell you if a treatment isn’t right for you. If a prescription-only treatment may be appropriate, this will be discussed and assessed by an appropriately qualified prescriber before anything is prescribed.
