Sebaceous hyperplasia describes small, soft, yellowish bumps that appear when the skin's oil glands enlarge, most often on the forehead and cheeks in adults. What it is
Sebaceous hyperplasia occurs when the sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin become enlarged, creating small, soft bumps that are often yellowish and may have a slight central dip. They typically appear on the forehead and cheeks and become more common with age. They are entirely benign.
Because these bumps can resemble other skin lesions to the untrained eye, an assessment is important — both to confirm what they are and to decide whether treatment is appropriate.
