Age Spots

Introduction To Age Spots

Age spots are small, flat dark areas on the skin. They vary in size and usually appear on areas exposed to the sun, such as the face, hands, shoulders and arms. Age spots are also called sunspots, liver spots and solar lentigines.

More commonly seen on lighter skin, true age spots are harmless to your health but can impact your self-confidence and they can be unsightly. Melanin, the pigment that gives skin its colour, is produced in the outer layer of skin, or epidermis, in response to UV exposure.
